Spain, a land of sun-drenched vineyards and ancient winemaking traditions, offers a captivating spectrum of wines. 

Red grapes dominate, with Tempranillo taking center stage in prestigious regions like Rioja and Ribera del Duero, yielding wines renowned for their structure, complexity, and aging potential.  Garnacha, meanwhile, flourishes in warmer climates like Priorat, producing powerful, fruit-driven wines with high alcohol.  Monastrell, also known as Mourvèdre, thrives in southeastern regions like Jumilla, contributing deeply colored, robust wines with earthy notes.

White wines showcase the aromatic vibrancy of Albariño in Rías Baixas, celebrated for its zesty acidity and saline notes.  Verdejo in Rueda offers a similar freshness with distinctive herbaceous aromas. Viura, also known as Macabeo, is a key white grape, particularly in Rioja and Cava.

Sparkling wine enthusiasts can explore Cava, Spain's answer to Champagne, crafted using the traditional method and offering excellent value.

Sherry, a fortified wine from Jerez, stands apart with its unique aging process.  

Spanish wine labeling often reflects aging, with Joven signifying minimal aging, Crianza indicating some oak and bottle aging, Reserva denoting longer aging, and Gran Reserva representing the most extended periods.

    Valdespino is one of the oldest bodegas in Jerez. In 1264, Alfonso Valdespino was one of 24 knights who fought against the Arabs for the city of Jerez with King Alfonso X. As a reward for his efforts, he was given the land that formed the basis of the bodega. Deliciosa is very dry, crisp and fresh with a slightly saline finish.
