Germany image Germany produces predominantly varietal wines and is the country producing the highest concentration of world class Rieslings. From dry and steely, medium and floral, to lusciously sweet. Primarily produced in the west along the Rhine river often on steep stoney southerly facing slopes to maximise sunlight exposure in its cool climate.

    Warm and medium-bodied, with a firm acid structure. Its bright black-cherry fruit is juicy, ripe, and forward, with a spicy midpalate and lingering finish. A minimum of twelve months of aging in used French oak barriques gives the wine a smoky depth and a nice touch of earthy tannins.

    Stainless steel fermentation at 18°C, at a very slow pace to preserve the fruitiness. A third of the overall volume was spontaneously fermented in large wooden barrels and fermented in used barriques. After fine lees ageing , then bottled unfined and only gently filtered.

    Fruit for the Wachenheimer Riesling comes from a single-vineyard site, called Königswingert (“King’s Vineyard”), but is labeled only with the village name. This excellent site lies just to the north of the village and is rated as a premier cru vineyard.
