    Warm and medium-bodied, with a firm acid structure. Its bright black-cherry fruit is juicy, ripe, and forward, with a spicy midpalate and lingering finish. A minimum of twelve months of aging in used French oak barriques gives the wine a smoky depth and a nice touch of earthy tannins.

    Stainless steel fermentation at 18°C, at a very slow pace to preserve the fruitiness. A third of the overall volume was spontaneously fermented in large wooden barrels and fermented in used barriques. After fine lees ageing , then bottled unfined and only gently filtered.

    Fruit for the Wachenheimer Riesling comes from a single-vineyard site, called Königswingert (“King’s Vineyard”), but is labeled only with the village name. This excellent site lies just to the north of the village and is rated as a premier cru vineyard.
