The Cantina del Vermentino-Monti cooperative was established in 1956 and cultivates 500 ha around Olbia and Monti in northeast Sardinia. This is the island’s heartland for quality Vermentino, producing wines of freshness, minerality and depth, as Vermentino di Gallura DOCG, responsible for many of Sardinia’s most notable whites, and the more affordable Vermentino di Sardegna DOC. Vines are planted in weathered granite soils up to 450m altitude. This is also a good source of fresh, juicy Cannonau (aka Grenache) for early drinking.
