- Haut-Medoc, Bordeaux, France
- Chateau Citran
- Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
This wine has really opened up and is drinking fantastically. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot from the Haut-Medoc this wine will continue to develop for several more years.
An open and expressive nose giving deep bramble and crimson fruit with subtle vanilla oak. The palate is generous with a silk texture and developed complexity. Blackcurrent, damson and blueberry fruit balance harmoniously with woody spice, cedar and cocao. The finish is complex and lingering, a fine example of classic Bordeaux.
Drinks well with hard cheeses, game poultry, white meat and duck dishes.
Chateau Citran is a producer based in the Haut-Medoc that dates back to the 13th Century origionally owned by the Donissan de Citran family. After changing hands several times over the centuries it is now run by the Merlaut family and in 2012 Chateau Citran was designated a historical monument heritage. After extensive improvements in the vineyards and winery, Chateau Citran now produces high quality, classic Bordeaux wines year after year.
