Wine Description:
A favourite of ours from Bodegas Urbina this Reserva Especial 2001 is made from grapes harvested from vines over 20 years old. The wine spends 2 years maturing in French and American oak with a further 2 years in bottle before release. The additional years of bottle age has made it a truly stunning wine.
Tasting Note:
A dark ruby red colour with amber glints. It has a very pronounced nose of seductive figs, apricots, nuts, savoury vanilla oak bouquet. Voluptuous, sweet middle palate with delicious, concentrated ripe berry, mature fruit broadening out. Wonderful length, classy and complex wine.
Producer Description
Salvador Urbina in 1870 moved to Cuzcurrita and produced the first wine wines, with vineyards still used in Urbina wines.
His sons Ciriaco and Paquita continue the profession, and they are Pedro and Jesús Angel, grandchildren of Salvador, who in 1986 began to produce in the current cellar in stainless steel tanks.
Currently the winery leads the fourth generation, Angel, Pedro and Santiago are important professionals in the sector, (catadores, researchers, engineers and doctors), backed by a great winemaking experience.
