Austrian Red
In the east of Austria, close to the Hungarian border lies the region of Burgenland. Hosting many indigenous varieties, it is an area known for its pudding wines. However, Gernot Heinrich uses these local varieties to produce some outstanding reds. His top wine is made from St Laurent is deep and showy with delicious red and black fruits. His Zweigelt is cherry like and supple and his Heinrich Red is a quaffable cuvee of Zweigelt, St Laurent and Blaufrankish.
