St Julien, Bordeaux

St-Julien is the smallest of the Bordeaux communes with only 910 hectares under vine it has the highest ratio of classed growths per hectare, and due to larger estates purchasing further land from the smaller producers, by 2015 close to 95% of St-Julien's vineyards were classified.
The wines of St-Julien can vary in style due to the difference in soils. In the north where St-Julien borders Pauillac you find a higher percentage of gravel producing the dense, concentrated wines similar to those produced in Pauillac. Further South more sand is found with smaller gravel creating a finer, more elegant style of wine.
At Palmers Wine Store you can find the prestigious 3rd Cru Chateau Langoa Barton owned by the famous Barton family, a fine example of the classic style of wine produced in St-Julien. We have also bought Chateau Lalande-Borie 2015 which is rapidly making a name for it's self as a rising star of St-Julien. Made in the finer, more elegant style of St-Julien, Chateau Lalande-Borie is a more early maturing style of wine than the traditionally made Langoa-Barton. We also have Chateau Du Glana 2017 arriving in a couple of years who have a reputation as being one of the leading Cru Bourgeois Chateaux of St-Julien.
