Pauillac, Bordeaux

Pauillac is a commune of Bordeaux locaed on the left bank of the Gironde River within the Haut-Medoc region.
Pauillac is home to three out of the five Premier Cru Chateaux named on the 1855 classification and borders St-Estephe which is just to the north. Both of these communes located at the northern part of the Medoc are known for growing high quality Cabernet Sauvignon and often produce wines with a higher percentage of Cabernet than the other Medoc communes. This is due to the higher levels of gravel soils found here on which Cabernet Sauvignon thrives.
Due to the amount of Pauillac wines that are featured on the 1855 Cru Classe Classification, Pauillac is renowned for producing quintissential Bordeaux of high quality and a classic style, which has led to a higher average price for the wines than other communes.
Our shelves didn't feature a Pauillac wine for several years but we now stock Fleur De Pedesclaux, the second wine of fifth cru Chateau Pedesclaux. Second wines offer very good value and the Fleur De Pedesclaux is a classic example of the dark, brooding style of wine that is produced in Pauillac, rich and cocentrated with a long life ahead of it. We have also bought an allocation Chateau highly regarded, fifth cru Chateau Lynch-Moussas which will be a welcome addition to our shelves.
