Chateau Haut-Bailly

Chateau Haut-Bailly is based in Pessac-Leognan in northern Graves and is one of the Cru Classe Chateaux under the classification of Graves. The estate dates back tp the 1530's when the Goyanèche and Daitze familys consolidated the best plots for growing vines. The Daitze family owned the estate for the next century until it was bought in 1630 by Firmin Le Bailly and Nicolas de Leuvarde and Chateau Haut-Bailly remained in the Bailly family for a further century.

Thomas Barton, who also owned Chateau Langoa-Bartion and Leoville-Barton, bought the estate in 1736 and Chateau Haut-Bailly began to build the reputation it has today. In 1955 Daniel Sanders purchased the property and remained with Chateau Haut-Bailly even after it was sold to Robert G. Wilmers to oversee extensive investment modernsation of the vineyards and winery.
