Wine Description:
Pretty deep purplish colour with undergrowth, toasted and ripe berries flavours. Harmonious and delectable mouth with liquorice and fruity notes. An entry-level-wine bearing a Mediterranean character with great body and nice fruit.
Handpicked. Destemmed harvest. Fermentation temperature regulated around 24° in order to favour fruity aromas. 15-day-tank maceration of berries. Daily pumping overs. Ageing essentially processed in tanks.
Tasting Note:
Fresh, fruity, elegant and supple. This is made by Roger Sabon who is highly regarded as a first class Chateauneuf du Pape producer. This is extremely good value for money. Very traditional in style; ripe red fruit and a savoury character with a touch of herbaceousness.
Producer Description
Domaine Roger Sabon is a good example of a family-run estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Roger Sabon founded the domaine as we know it today in 1952, following in the footsteps of his father. The domaine owns seventeen hectares of vines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, composed of fifteen parcels located in the heart of the appellation, mostly on soils rich in pebbles. Their other property, Chapelle de Maillac, is located on the opposite bank of the Rhône River, and includes twelve hectares in Lirac.
