The Red wines of Bordeaux, Claret as it is known by many wine buffs, has always held a prominent position at Palmers, particularly Chateau Palmer! Using our main claret contact, Maison Sichel, we have developed a list which offers character, quality and value. Our Chateau Rivensan and Chateau Argadens are from the Bordeaux or Bordeaux Superieur appellation and offer fantastic everyday drinking. We have lovely cru-bourgeois from Chateau Devise d'Ardilley and Chateau l'Argentyre, which offer consistently excellent wine in every vintage. From the “left bank” where Cabernet Sauvignon predominates we offer Maison Sichel and Chateau d’Angludet from Margaux, Chateau Oliviers and the terrific Grand Cru Classe wines of Chateau Haut-Bailly from Pessac-Leognan. From the “right Bank” where Merlot is king; Chateau Perron from Lalande de Pomerol, Esprit de l'Eglise Pomerol, and 1er Grand Cru Classe Chateau Canon from St Emilion.

    Chateau Palmer is considered to be one of the most prestigious Chateaux in Bordeaux, producing wines of a Premier Grand Cru level. The 2015 Palmer was one of the highest scoring wines of the vintage only coming behind Mouton-Rothchild, Margaux and Latour.Alter Ego is Chateau Palmers 2nd wine and the general rules is to buy 2nd wines on the great vinatges as they offer very good value and Margaux was the star of the 2015 vintage Alter Ego De Palmer will cellar for for the next 10 to 15 years.

    From a Premier Cru Classe Sauternes property, Chateau Guiraud are developing a reputation for their exceptional dry wines. A blend of 50% Sauvignon and 50% Semillon with 80% barrel fermentation and 7 month oak and lees aging.

    Chateau Angludet is a superb producer, dating back to the 12th century, who performs in every vintage. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot with 12 months in oak the 2011 is an early maturing vintage that drinks well now and will continue to over the next few years.

    Chateau Angludet is owned and run by the Sichel family.55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. From the highly regarded 2010 vintage which is starting to drink but will benefit from cellaring. A wine with power, balance and style. A wonderful buy. Drink 2018-2040.

    An excellent Claret from the Maison Sichel stable of Bordeaux and is also hard to beat for value in Bordeaux. A blend 0f 63% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc with 12 to 14 month spent in oak, 25% of which is new oak. This wine won the Gold medal at the Concours de Bordeaux competition in 2015.

    This is really excellent Claret from the Maison Sichel stable of Bordeaux. A fragrant, earthy claret nose leads to a fine and generous Bordeaux fruit palate.

    From the Sichel estate, Chateau Argenteyre is a 27ha property. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 15% Petit Verdot with 12 month in oak. Drinking well now but will continue to develop for several years to come. A serious and classic Medoc wine.

    Chateau Canon is a Premier Grand Cru Chateau in Saint-Emilion. The 2008 vintage has been described by Robert Parker as "the finest wine made under the relatively recent ownership of the Wertheimer brothers". A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the 2008 vintage is highly underated vintage producing some great value wines and Chateau Canon is the perfect example of this.
